Especially one involving my precious right leg.

But it's true, I'll admit.  I can't deny this reality.  Life's started the hardness, pain, humiliation, and temporary damnation all over today. I'm reliving my nightmare, though it was once real life.  But I know I'll live through it.  It's not the end of the world, things will get better soon. Other people are going through harder things than me right now, and they too are hidden under a blanket in public.
I wonder what the guy sitting next to me at this BYU's computer lab is going through right now.  Maybe a death, maybe a break up, maybe a fight, or maybe absolutely nothing and his life is perfect and he is happy blah blah blah.
That's what we all tend to assume about everyone else, right?  Well people, 'tis false doctrine.  Now go smile at someone and do something nice for someone - who knows, you might just be what they need right now.
Like how I needed my mom's phone call a few minutes ago.  And how I need to go to class and love learning and ignore all dwellings on the pain and stares.
Anyways, here's a confession: sometimes I write poetry.  It's what comes out of my thoughts and begs expression. Then I write it down/type it out/rap it to a nearby friend. Then it feels like I just sneezed the most satisfying sneeze.  That's called human expression people.  Its refreshing.  Even better than Lemonade.

9/17/12  Torn Leaf

Today I received news that changes my life
The significance sinks in and blinds me with strife.
Does anyone know the importance of today?
Of this stale blow of air that breathes hope away?
Not the man walking next to me or the girl walking by.
While I’m clenching my bag firmly, not wanting to cry.

I can be strong. Is all that is said.
over and over again in my head.

cookies n cream folks
Oh Lupe, kicking and pushing. Love this song. Almost as much as I love making lists.
For example, today, I attempted walking to class again. This is my fourth attempt this week and fourth fail. It's so unintelligent and silly, every time I'm so hopeful as I drive to school straight from work and it literally doesn't cross my mind that my leg might not be good enough. Then I end up at the nearest building to where I parked, on a chair or in a bathroom frustrated. So as I sat in the Wilk Bookstore's bathroom today and while the leg frustration was getting flushed from my system I wrote this one:
Things I've Learned From Life Since My Right Knee...Happened:
     1. Being alone is not as bad of a thing as I had imagined it to be in my head.
     2. Be sober, Listen more.
     3. Rely on the Lord.
     4. Sometimes in life you really do need help, you can't do it on your own, and that's okay.
     5. People care, genuinely, way more often than you'd expect.
     6. Don't try to make a deal with God, bargaining when you have no leverage is just a bad idea.
     7. Smiling, despite conditions, makes life better.
     8. Be careful what you laugh at.
     9. Good Sleep saturates your day life.
   10. Submission & Sacrifice are two of life's most brilliant Teachers.
And most of all, I will forever have ingrained in my soul a refreshed love for good health. I freaking love moving, I love sports, dancing, basketball, yoga, I love using my legs to drive, to walk to class, to walk and sit where ever I want in church, at a movie, or in class, to walk up/down stairs, jumping into my bed, running, doing somersaults, climbing trees, getting out my car to fill up with gas, taking the trash out, walking down store isles, lifting boxes when I move, jumping to get something on the high shelf, being able to crawl under a table if I need to get something, etc etc.
And I love that even without my right knee I can have an awesome time hanging out with my man and/or friends. Tonight included.
